CVU Crush traveled to Santa Monica this past weekend to participate in one of the 2009 Copa Cabana beach sand soccer tournaments. CVU Crush were champions in the 2009 Oxnard Copa Cabana tournament a couple of months ago and they were eager to defend their title in Santa Monica.

The girls started the tournament off with a 0-0 draw against a Malibu team that played very solid defense. CVU had a few really good opportunities to score but the Malibu goalkeepers came up big on a few great saves.

With a game under their wings and the familiarity of playing in the sand returning to them Crush showed up for their second game ready to go. They faced a talented Santa Monica Saints team but Crush was too much to handle. The girls played great and earned a 4-0 victory.

Sunday’s games saw the girls facing the Shooting Stars and the Sparks. The girls were firing on all cylinders Sunday and both games ended in 9-0 wins for Crush.

At the end of the weekend CVU Crush were once again champions of another Copa Cabana beach sand soccer tournament, successfully defending their Oxnard tournament title.

Much fun was had and all the girls played great. They look forward to defending their title again next season.
