Natasha Belak-Berger, a former CVU player now playing for UC San Diego, has been named the Brine California Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 29 – Oct. 5.

Belak-Berger, a senior from Thousand Oaks, Calif., sparked the Tritons to a pair of victories over 12th-ranked Sonoma State and Humboldt State. The two wins moved UC San Diego into a first-place tie with Cal State Dominguez Hills in the CCAA’s South Division.

Belak-Berger made the most over her opportunities as she scored three goals on four shots.

After trailing 1-0 at halftime against the nationally-ranked Seawolves, Belak-Berger scored the equalizer in the 69th minute that forced overtime. She came back to score the game-winner in the second overtime period that gave the Tritons a 2-1 victory.

Registration is now open for both the 2009 Cal South State Cup and National Cup competitions. If you register for State Cup before October 31, the entry fee is $475 per team, but after that date, the entry fee will raise to $525. If you are registering a team for the Youngers brackets, please be aware that the deadline for U9 through U13 teams in the State Cup is November 26, 2008.
