PLAY & Player
The player is the priority.
All decisions will be made on what is best for that specific individual person.
This extends into our training demands. Every minute is precious.
Each session will be connected to a microcycle plan, macrocycle plan, and overall vision for the long term potential of each player.
In an effort to use consistent language and remain specific in our teaching our coaches will use Principles of Play language at every opportunity - training sessions, team talks, halftime, player evaluations, video sessions etc.
CVU Playing Philosophy allows our players to attempt to control the game through possession and high pressure defending. With consistent repetition of these demands over a few seasons CVU players will be way ahead of the normal youth player in ball control, vision, technique, timing, game understanding, counterattacking, pressing etc.
CVU has been putting players first for over 40 years.
From our youngest Juniors program participants to our college bound elite players everything we do is focused on two objectives:
Enjoyment leads to Improvement. Improvement leads to Enjoyment.
We feel enjoyment is critical because a player’s passion for the sport will keep them competing regardless of the score, training regardless of the of the fact that practice was cancelled, unaffected by the referee, or the weather, or the field etc.
Soccer is a test of character. It is a test of a group of individuals ability to adjust and work together.
In order to improve the the entire person must be be challenged and shown how the game of soccer and the game of life are played in the mind.
CVU coaches improve each player through an age appropriate approach to the learning needs of each person.
CVU Coaches improve each person by setting an example of how to act, how to work to achieve short term and long term goals.
